MXR Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus
5 knob operation: Level, Rate, Depth, Low Cut, and High Cut. 1 footswitch button, blue LED.
For me, level control was important, having had an MXR Micro Chorus, which sounded great, I had no control over how loud the effect was in the loop, as none of my amps loops had control knobs for them, and I wasn't very satisfied with the sound in front of the amp, sounded ok but not the best it could be. This pedal solved that problem, and was about $70 less than the MXR Stereo Chorus. The Black Label Chorus is usuable in front of the amp, some may even like the sound better, but in the loop is where it shines, IMO.
The sound is great, no matter the settings I've used, clean or dirty, whether it's just a little ambience you're looking for, or a real saturated chorus effect at high gain, ala Zakk Wylde, the pedal doesn't lose itself.
Like typical MXR pedals, it's built like a tank.
I still am not a fan of having to unscrew the bottom of the pedal to change a battery.
Never dealt with MXR or Dunlop
Never had a problem with an MXR pedal.
