They're pickups, they work...
Only ever e-mailed to Dimarzio, but they replied within a couple of days, so OK I guess.
I went for the Area 67 because I figured they would sound period correct in a big headstock Strat. Maybe they do, maybe they don't, I can't say. What I can say is that they sound very bright. Combined with the maple board too bright. Dimarzio clearly states this on their website, but it's still a surprise just how trebly these are. Not what you'd expect from AlNiCo... The tone is less complex than I'd prefer in a single coil. Output is pretty linear. Maybe this would work in a darker sounding guitar, but in my Strat it's shrill and piercing with little to no harmonic content. No hum at all. These were out of my axe after only a couple of weeks.
