Smooth overdrive tone that really warms up your amp.
I use this pedal to boost an already overdriven Marshall (DSL100 or 2203x). The noticeable mid hump of the OD-9 adds warmth and punch. It does cut some lower frequencies, but as I don't go for ultra low crunch it doesn't bother me.
Getting musical harmonic feedback is a piece of cake with this pedal engaged. This is the one area in particular where I always found my Boss SD1 lacking. With the OD-9, notes bloom into sweet feedback almost instantly.
On its own, it delivers a convincing overdrive tone that sounds great for seventies style rocking. Think AC/DC, Bad Company...
The mid-hump/bass cut may not be everyone's cup of tea.
The footswitch is fragile. I have mine on all the time, so it doesn't matter as much, but if you plan to stomp on this one a lot you may want to consider getting a looper of some sort.
No experience.
No issues yet but it has only been on my board for about a year.
