No issues. Perfect.
I've never had any problems with the Doug Aldrich pickups that would require support, but, it should be noted that the Suhr website offers a forum where both product users and Suhr Staff, including John Suhr himself from time to time, discuss all current and past products, new products coming down the pipeline, and openly compare their product with products made by other manufacturers. Help with pickup selection and installation is readily available.
Up Front, The Suhr Doug Aldrich pickup set is my #1 choice among all humbuckers offered by guitar companies or after market pickup manufacturers.
There are generally two schools of thought on passive humbuckers. School #1). For the best clarity, string definition, and the ability to project the subtle influences of a players touch and attack low output passive humbuckers works best. Bass notes are produced with a crisp rather than wooly quality and high end production is clean and glassy. Mids are produced in equal proportion to the highs and lows offering a flat frequency response across the spectrum.
School #2). For best results in overdriving the front end of a tube amp, the production of harmonics, capturing tapped notes and increasing their volume in relation to other forms of note production and producing distortion at lower amp volumes high output passive humbuckers are the way to go. The higher output adds "balls" and thickens the tone along with kicking up the grit of the high end for nasty screaming leads.
Two schools of thought. Both with valid points.
Now. Combine the best attributes of both schools. Everything you expect a high output pickup to do, plus, equalling or besting low output pickups at what they do best. Clarity, string definition, touch and attack sensitive, crisp and clean bass note production, tight mids, glassy highs that can go into the scream range with the twist of the guitars volume knob, the ability to caress the amps front end or kick it like a mule, harmonics and tapped note volume levels virtually preset. One pickup model that does it all in better proportions than any other model I've run across. I give you the Suhr Doug Aldrich. My selection for best passive humbucker pickup available in the present market.
