Y&T put on a fantastic show tonight in NYC. They played 23 songs in a 90 minute set that included a short medley of their earliest Yesterday and Today tracks to help them commemorate the band's 35 year history. Dave Meniketti was in great voice tonight -- better than the One Hot Night video performance. His guitar work was truly incendiary. This man has lost nothing off his game. The band sang well together on all the backup vocal parts. In addition to the standards Y&T always plays, high points for me included Winds of Change, Straight Through the Heart, Squeeze, and the blistering guitar workout I'll Cry. As there was no encore due to BB King's tight scheduling, conspicuously absent were Rescue Me and Forever.
Still, Y&T are in top form and definitely worth seeing if you have the chance.
