New Song "Beneath a Never Setting Sun"

Post: # 250389Post TravisW

I hadn't released a new song in a couple years, although I have written a fair number. I made a couple goals for myself for 2023, one being to finally finish the Rule 17 "album" (looking more like an LP-length album) and write/record another new song before the end of the year. I had another written musically, but struggled with finding a lyric that I liked. Then I thought of the main riff for this tune, which I wrote back in the late 90's. Long story short, it came together really easily. I was thinking of like a Stargazer/Egypt vibe from the riff, but then thought, "I don't know anything about building towers or pyramids". However, I do know about picking rocks. So here's a melodramatic take on the most boring farm task of all time, "Beneath a Never Setting Sun".

Enjoyed immensely. The guitar is all killer, this is so cool to listen to.

Congrats, Travis!

Sounds real good, Travis. Keep it up!  :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I like the song but... the guitar tone!
Also, your singing is good, too.

Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for listening! Guitars were Strat on the right and Les Paul Studio on the left through the DSL50 Lead channel, then the old Les Paul up the middle through the clean channel with the crunch on and cranked up. That middle track added a whole lot of thickness to the overall guitar sound.

Damn dude!! Badass!!
The verse reminded at first of Alice In Chains but the Chorus and second verse sounds a lot like Dio!
Nice pitch on the high notes dude. Dig the chorus sound on the middle section and ORGAN!!! Fuck Yeah!! Solo so Blackmore and then Malmsteen holy shit man!!
My only real critique would be that the solo should be a little louder and upfront but damn man.
Really nice work.

Thank you! That's some high praise, there.
