Re: Ben Eller's John Sykes piece
Aaand the above posts are the reason I love this site. Wow Andy, you knocked it out of the park and schooled yours truly in the process... I know I am not who you meant (those guys posting comments on the YT video after how it was clearly Sykes), but I will be the first to admit that I was not fami...

For anybody outside the UK, you can watch it with a VPN.
ExpressVPN works just fine with it

Re: Ben Eller's John Sykes piece
I'd not heard the 2019 remix, just the remaster with the original solo. How many versions are there of the dratted song, dammit?! It certainly sounds more like Sykes on this one - although also sounds like whoever it was listened to the Dann Huff solo, copied the beginning, threw in a run, and then...

Dann Huff's solos with Giant:

Give that a quick listen (even just the first solo) and then listen to that 1987 demo solo again. I'll wait.

Re: Ben Eller's John Sykes piece
Regarding some of the YT comments - a few people were saying to listen to the 2019 remix of the Slide it In album, because that has EXACTLY the same solo as this one, and we know it's definitely John Sykes and couldn't be Dan Huff because that was recorded in 1984, so that proves it... A few people ...

Re: Ben Eller's John Sykes piece
That's Dan Huff on guitar. It's chock full of his trademarks and this is his tone too. I doubt anybody in the comments is familiar with Dan's playing or really knows what is being played in that solo, but the lightning-quick, wide interval, legato two-notes-per string scalar stuff that are going off...

Re: What are you watching? Movies, shows, documentaries, etc
=0.95emeternals.jpeg Just watched this. Atrocious. What a waste of almost 3 hours. Wow. I am a self admitted geek. I read a lot of comic books as a kid. I am a big fan of what Marvel has been doing with their movies, and some of them are just plain amazing. That said, there have been some stinker...

Re: best/favorite vibrato?
Wow Andy... what a great post! You got me thinking a couple things. I have been thinking about vibrato a lot lately, and you just gave me a lot of food for thought. Oh well... back to the drawing board! I'm really glad you found it useful! Vibrato is such a subjective thing, but I think that ther...

Re: best/favorite vibrato?
A bit late coming to this... I like vibrato that is musical, natural, tasteful, controlled and above all, that fits the song - like a singer or a classical string player (i.e. people who have actually studied vibrato and have accurate pitch perception and developed ears). It can vary in width, speed...

DRG Summit: SWEDEN! Please suggest topics for a round table discussion.
Just working on the editing right now. There's about 2 hours of footage. It's mostly the round table discussions, but there are some jams recorded too
