Re: NGD - Milestone Birthday present to myself

I'm pretty sure Sykes put them in his guitar as a replacement.  I didn't think the Dirty Fingers came stock in any Gibson, but I guess they tried to cater to the early 80s metal guys for a minute. They were way too hot for Gibson to make them stock for the general public. The Dirty Fingers were Gib...

Re: NGD - Milestone Birthday present to myself

It seems far fetched to me that Gibson consciously knew that in the 70s when they were at their worst. More likely they probably found that PAFs just didn't shine in those other slab mahogany models.   I don't think they were that smart... By the late 70s or early 80s they had discontinued th...

Re: Behind The Recording of ACDC's Back In Black!

Oh yeah, the Solo Dallas seems like a dream come true to some of us who dig the old 70's tone. Years ago I used to belong to a forum of Marshall enthusiasts that would create replicas of those classic amps. These guys were borderline OCD as far as this stuff. Solo Dallas was a member back then, and ...

Re: NGD - Milestone Birthday present to myself

I'm just curious if those PUP's are anywhere near the spec of the "legendary" T Tops... or, the regular 'ol PAF's Gibson only had, at the time, ya know. I highly doubt our legendary heros cared what they were playing through ( they only had stock Gibson/Fenders & old Plexi's etc ) 'cu...

Re: Uli - Iridium NYC 4/27/2024 with GOOD video!

Thanks for posting this, man. Glad you enjoyed it. Uli in concert remains to this day one of the absolute best live experiences I have ever had. Absolutely amazing is selling it short, to be honest. It doesn't hurt he was opening for Mad Mikey. And this one was a good Schenker experience. Clean, sob...

Re: Another NGD

According to the Uli school of thought, the bigger the bar the better.

I happen to agree with that.

Whatever works for Uli works for me.

I am the furthest thing you can think of from an Ibañez type of guy that you will find, but that looks nice.

Congrats and play it in good health.

Holy crap. That looks AWESOME.

I had to pick my jaw from the floor. I am lusting like you wouldn't believe here.

Now that is a holy grail guitar if I ever saw one.

Dude, put me in your will or something LOL.

Re: Accept: Frankenstein

Good song. Better than I expected.

The guitar work is great, Wolf is in fine form.

I would love to see them on this tour, but I don't know if they will play anywhere close. We shall see.

Re: Behind The Recording of ACDC's Back In Black!

Interesting. I never would've guessed that Angus used his wireless unit in the studio and that it's part of his tone.   It's kind of like Iommi and May with the Treble Booster, or Ritchie with his Awia tape machine. These things all acted like preamps and added to their sounds in the days of single...

Re: Dickey Betts

Bummer, I liked him too. Saw the Allman's about 30+ yrs at an outdoor show when they had Warren Haynes in the band, and they were damn good. Their comeback album at the time, Seven Turns, I thought was good also. RIP Dickey   I watched some videos last night, some form that era (mid 90s I believe) ...
