Sounds to me that in this case, Scott has Angus' tone.  The tone is in the gear, not the fingers.

Yes, in this case, that's striking.

It's the same thing with my Hoffmann guitar and amp. When I plug that rig in and play Accept songs, it IS the Hoffmann/Accept sound.

Of course, if it were Malcolm's rig, and some other excellent guitarist were to play AC/DC rhythms through it, they couldn't possibly sound as good or as right as the best rhythm guitarist in the world.  wank

A Wizard amp. So what about the "marshall's the best/only real amp in the world that's what I use etc." quotes we read from catalogs. Laughing Out Loud

The Wizards are a pretty recent change for them.  Most of the back catalog was recorded with Marshalls.

I have to tell you I am not someone who is easily impressed by gear.
Last year my buddy and I went to the NY amp show and that was the only amp that was really memorable.
There was other stuff that was nice but for sheer Dino balls out guitar tone that's the best amp I've ever heard.

One of the most expensive too...I wish I could try one, but then it must be more than just AC/DC tone !

Gear and tone aside, the look on Scott's face was awesome. I would have been just as excited and goofy at the thought of playing Angus' rig too.

It's funny watching Scott looking like a giddy kid like that.  You can tell he's in Hog Heaven and he sure knows some AC/DC riffs-that's where he cut his teeth from the sound of it.  Very cool video.

Gawd that is some amazing tone.   drool drool drool  And I've never gotten to demo a Wizard amp, but I think I would agree with Joebuddha's assessment if I did.

I love the look on Scott's face!  Even professional musicians have their idols, that's truly great.

And yes, we can finally put to rest the fact that tone is all about gear.  That was Angus' tone, spot on.

Best clip I've seen in a while. Agreed: Such a pleasure to watch the sheer delight and child-like glee and excitement on his face. Adorable and unexpected from him.

And just loooooooooooove that crunchy rock and roll sound.  that's hot!

I don't think anyone around here really feels that way.I know you are being somewhat sarcastic.
I agree totally with the fact that playing through anyone's gear you are going to have their tone.
Whether it is Angus, Malcolm, etc. As longas it is dialed in correctly. Still Angus, Malcolm and
anyone else with a signature tone were the ones who in part created it with the combination of
gear and their settings. I can respect that....

One thing I noticed about that clip....you would think someone as highly regarded as Scott Ian could have
played "Beatin Around the Bush" a little better....I know he was just screwing around but still....
