A massive earthquake (8.8 on the Richter scale) hit my country a couple of hours ago. I'm fine, so is my closest family, can't say the same about a lot of people, especially in Concepción the city that was hit the hardest. I was supposed to do a gig tonight with my band for my birthday but apparently the venue has some serious structural damage... sad

I'm watching the latest on the news and they're now worried about a possible tsunami in Hawaii.
People are being evacuated and in the hotels being moved to higher floors

Keep aware, man. Aftershocks can do a lot of damage too. Stay where you know you're relatively safe and let the fools go sightseeing for first look at the damage.

I'm glad everything is okay for you and your family, that is one huge earthquake.  I think the one in Haiti was a 7.0, which means this was about 500 times stronger.  You and the rest of Chile will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Most of the buildings in your country are prepared for this kinda shit. Its sort of a neccessity when you live bang on a subduction zone I guess. Stay safe.

Like everyone else, I'm glad to read that you are okay, sorry for the mass destruction to your country and its people, and want to remind you to continue to stay safe.
I'll also wish you the happiest birthday you can have under the circumstances.
